Step by step
- Open ScamCheck — yoyosup.com/tools/scamcheck/ (bookmark it on your home screen if you like).
- Copy the whole message from Messages — not just the link. Names, fees, and threats all matter.
- Paste into the box and tap check. You’ll get a score from 0–99 and what the tool thinks is going on.
- Read the plan — if it looks risky, do not call numbers in the text or pay a “tiny fee.” Use official apps or numbers you look up yourself.
- Optional: If you only have a screenshot, use the screenshot path when available — OCR stays on your device; the picture isn’t uploaded to sell your data.
What the score means (in plain English)
- Low — fewer red flags. Still be careful with unexpected links.
- Medium — something’s off. Verify outside the message before you do anything.
- High — classic scam patterns (urgency, lookalike links, gift cards, fake IRS/bank/package stories). Stop and verify.
A free checker is a second opinion — not a magic wand. When money is involved, call your bank using the number on your card.
