Who we are

yoyosup is an independent project offering free browser tools and educational guides at yoyosup.com (and related subdomains for news and finance). See About for more context.

What we collect

Many tools—including ScamCheck pattern scoring—are designed so your message text is processed in your browser. We do not sell personal message content.

ScamCheck also offers an optional way to help build a public library of real scam examples. If you choose to share a message after checking it, we store the text and score you submitted—not your device, browser, or location—for a person to review before anything is ever shown publicly. Sharing is never automatic; it only happens if you take that extra step yourself. If you'd like a message you shared removed, contact us and we'll take it down.

We log anonymous visit counts (page views, tool usage totals, optional campaign tags like ?ref=) to understand which tools help people.

For rough geography we may count visits by country and sometimes state/region, using headers from our CDN (Cloudflare). We do not use this to identify you, and we do not store city-level location or GPS. We may also count the referring website host name (for example google.com) without storing the full URL.

If you use the Feedback button, we store the message you send, the page you were on, and the same rough country/region. If you choose to leave an email, we keep it only so we can reply—we do not sell it or add you to a marketing list. You can always leave feedback without an email.

Some tools call our API only to return a result (for example reputation lookups or recipe extraction). Those requests may be rate-limited and logged at a technical level to prevent abuse.

We do not sell personal data. Aggregate stats are for operating and improving free tools.

Browser extensions

The ScamCheck browser extension (right-click a selected suspicious text → "Check with ScamCheck") does not collect, store, or transmit any data itself. It only reads the text you've already selected — provided directly to it by your browser's own context-menu API when you click — and opens a new tab to the ScamCheck page with that text included in the page address, exactly as if you had pasted it in yourself. The extension has no other permissions, does not run in the background otherwise, and does not talk to any server on its own.

Cookies & advertising

We use Google AdSense to show ads on some pages when the account is approved and ads are enabled. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads and learn more in the Google advertising policy.

We aim to keep aggressive ad placements off pure “scam score panic” UX. Guide pages and informational pages may show ads.
