What actually matters is not the brand name on the icon — it's whether real-time protection is on, whether it's still getting updates, and whether you're the only real-time scanner running. Two active antivirus programs fighting over the same files is a common, very real cause of a slow PC and gaps in coverage — pick one as your main and either uninstall or fully disable real-time scanning in the other.

Windows Defender (built into Windows, free, already there) is genuinely solid for most home users on its own. It automatically steps aside when you install a third-party antivirus, so Defender + one paid product together is normal and not a conflict.
