How to use: Treat strong tools as separate products on directories and maker posts
(ScamCheck, QRCheck, Recipe Helper, PhoneCheck, Hourly Worth). Weaker utilities stay “also free on yoyosup.”
Always use a unique ?ref= per channel so
admin can track winners.
Helpful first, link second. Don’t re-post Show HN for ScamCheck.

🔥 Next Tuesday Launch Playbook Scheduled: Tuesday 8:15 AM ET
Targeted distribution playbook for Hacker News Show HN, Subreddits, and Product Hunt.
1. Hacker News (Show HN) — Submit Tuesday @ 8:15 AM ET / 5:15 AM PT
Post URLhttps://news.ycombinator.com/submit
Submission TitleShow HN: ScamCheck – On-device scam text analyzer and free threat lookup
Author's First Comment (Paste within 60 seconds of submitting):
Hey HN, I built ScamCheck (https://www.yoyosup.com/tools/scamcheck/?ref=hn) to help non-technical users, parents, and seniors verify suspicious texts, fake delivery links, and phone numbers without getting paywalled or forced to create an account.
Technical Stack & Architecture:
- Frontend: Zero framework overhead (Vanilla HTML/CSS/JS with CSS variables). Fast load time under 30ms.
- On-Device OCR: Uses tesseract.js in the browser so users can drop/paste screenshots of scam texts without sending images to a server.
- Threat Intelligence & Feeds:
- URLs: Queries Google Safe Browsing + OpenPhish threat DBs via a Python FastAPI microservice.
- Phone Reputation: Integrates directly with the official FTC Do Not Call complaint feed (api.data.gov) + optional IPQS VOIP scoring.
- Short Codes: Pattern engine identifying 5-digit short codes (e.g. 57513, 22000).
- Privacy: No user registration, no server-side message logging, SHA-256 anonymized keys.
Built this as a free utility network (YoyoTools). Would love technical feedback from the HN community on edge-case threat patterns, regex rules, or additional open threat feeds I should integrate!
2. Reddit Subreddits (Submit Tuesday @ 9:00 AM ET)
r/CyberSecurity & r/SelfHostedShowoff / Project Post: "Built a free, on-device scam text & link scanner (Vanilla JS + Python FastAPI)"

Long description (directories / PH)

No account. No install. The analysis runs in your browser — you can also upload a screenshot (OCR stays on your device).
Also free on the same site: LinkCheck, PhoneCheck, QRCheck, plain-English guides, and an optional $5 Family Scam Defense Kit for people protecting parents.

Checklist — what to do
☐ Open Uneed → name ScamCheck → URL with ?ref=uneed
Is this QR code a scam? Decode on your phone, score the link — free, no signup.
Short description
QRCheck is a free quishing checker. Photograph a parking sticker, package notice, or “pay now” poster QR. Decode runs on your device (photo never uploaded); if it’s a web link we score phishing risk. No account.
Long description
QRCheck helps you check suspicious QR codes before you scan with your camera app. Upload or take a photo — decoding runs fully in your browser. We classify Wi‑Fi joins, phone/SMS actions, crypto addresses, and web links, then risk-score URLs with the same link-reputation tools as LinkCheck.
No signup. Photo never leaves your device. Part of free yoyosup tools (also ScamCheck for text messages).

Checklist
☐ This week: use in Reddit/Nextdoor when topic is parking/package QR — don’t need a new directory yet
☐ Later: optional Uneed/PH listing as product “QRCheck” with ?ref=uneed-qr
☐ Share SEO page when explaining quishing without a photo
☐ GSC request indexing: /tools/qr-check/
Where to post
r/Scams — parking meter / windshield sticker threads
Local city subs + Nextdoor when “scan to pay” scams hit
X: short demo of photo → score
📞 PhoneCheck standalone for “who called?”
Callback numbers, multi-number paste, FTC signals + community reports. Great Reddit replies; weaker as first directory product.
Unknown number wants a callback? Check it first — free, no signup.
Short description
PhoneCheck scores suspicious callback numbers from scam texts. Paste one number or a whole message with several numbers. Free, no signup. Remember: scammers can spoof caller ID.
Checklist
☐ Reply on r/Scams / r/robocalls when they ask “is this number legit?”
☐ Pair with ScamCheck when they have full SMS text
☐ Skip as first Uneed product (use ScamCheck)
🔗 LinkCheck add-on · not primary launch
Paste a URL → phishing-style score. Overlaps ScamCheck; use when they only have a link.
Paste a recipe link — clean ingredients and steps you can scale. Free, no signup.
Short description
Recipe Helper strips recipe blogs down to ingredients and steps (no life story, no popups). Scale ½×–3×, convert cups/tbsp/tsp, optional on-device recipe book. Free browser tool, no account.
Long description
Recipe Helper is a free browser tool that pulls just the ingredients and steps from recipe sites (schema.org when available). Scale the batch, convert cups and spoons, and keep a personal book on your device. No signup, no server storage of your recipes.

☐ Don’t directory-submit these as flagship products

• Build your own MyNews page — Follow the subjects that matter to you and browse a personalized news board with no account required.
• Explore news by location — View national coverage or select another country or U.S. state to discover what matters there.

• Browse beyond the first page — Load more stories in groups of 20 across Intersection, Curious Pulse, topics, and personalized feeds.
• Compare platform rankings — See where a subject ranks across search engines, social networks, video platforms, and prediction markets.
• Follow individual topics — Dedicated topic pages bring together current stories, platform activity, source information, and discussion.
• Discover journalists behind the coverage — Journalist pages collect recent articles and provide useful context about their published work.
• Discuss stories without joining another social network — Topic discussions allow optional names, including Anonymous, with no registration barrier.
• Understand where coverage comes from — Source labels and perspective indicators make the mix behind each feed easier to recognize.
• Get practical news-safety guidance — The Safety section helps readers recognize misinformation, suspicious links, manipulated media, and emotionally loaded claims.
• Private by design — Topics, source preference, theme, and read-story history stay in the browser. No personal profile is required.
